Chronicles of Narnia.....Best. Series. Ever.

I am a Narnia Nut!  I've read these books at least once a year since I was maybe 12.  As you can see from the picture my copies are well loved.  Every time I read these books I find something that I had either forgotten or hadn't noticed before.
The Chronicles of Narnia was probably my first foray into the Fantasy genre.  It was a match made in heaven.  Thanks to Narnia I delved into the wonderful stories of new worlds, elves, centaurs, fairies, talking beasts, and other enchanting stories from around the world.  I began to read Tolkien, ancient mythology, and discovered the origins of some of my favorite classic fairy tales.  I always come back to Narnia though.

Each book has given me hope in during different parts of my life.  I am especially fond of the quote, "Courage, dear heart!" Aslan speaks this to Lucy in a moment when she is petrified by fear.  She calls out to Aslan asking for his help and he not only shows them the way out of their terrifying situation but brings peace and hope with just one simple statement.

As an obvious allegory to Jesus and his relationship with the world, these books have helped me in my spiritual journey.  I was able to identify with many different characters and the trials they experience.  I was given hope by the words Aslan spoke.  By seeing the relationship between all the different characters and Aslan, I was given an example of how my relationship with Jesus could be.

I could probably write a 20 page essay on these books but I won't....at least not today. ;)  One of these days I will go through each book more thoroughly (not 20 pages I promise) and describe in more detail what makes each book so great.  Meanwhile, I just wanted to share my love of the wonderful world C.S. Lewis created.

Happy Reading and God Bless,

Cordelia M. Blythe

This is my most recent Narnia acquisition is this fantastic coloring book featuring the original illustrations by Pauline Barnes.  Isn't it fantastic!?!
